Diesel is a current member of the North Western Railway, and also is a member of Diesel 10's Gang. He spends his days working in the Knapford Yards, shunting trains together for the other engines. Although occasionally he'll be allowed to take short freight trains down the line. At first, Diesel was treated horribly by the other engines, but after seeing he wanted to make amends, they gave him a chance, and he was good friends with all of them, until they found out he was working for Diesel 10's Gang.

Personality

Diesel is, in essence, the average pantomime villain. He is oily, malicious, devious, scheming and full of ideas to get revenge. He views himself and any other diesel as highly above the steam engines and believes that all diesels are "revolutionary" - he has also claimed diesels should be "rough and tough", as an excuse for bullying the other engines. His antics give diesels on Sodor a bad reputation, which causes most steam engines, particularly Duck and Thomas, to mistrust him.

He saw the errors of his ways, turning over a new leaf and wanting to become a better engine. After some time, most engines opted to forgive him, and Diesel has been friendly ever since, until he revealed that he was working for Diesel 10's Gang.

However despite his antics, Diesel still wants to prove himself to be a really useful engine. He is also very proud to be the first diesel on Sodor. He also seems to have a soft spot for cute ducklings.

Diesel puts a truck of dynamite on the track and says that he could blow an engine up because of it, Later, while Henry chases Diesel off the mountain, Diesel smashes into it, killing him instantly.

Many years later, when Lady returned and tried to destroy the Sodor engines again, she revived Diesel 10, Diesel, and Bert to help her, but she found out that they weren’t working for her anymore.
